Weekend updates... NATIONAL CHAMPS ROAD
Several of the team were racing in Scarborough on the toughest youth circuit of the year, featuring the fearsome Oliver's Mount climb.
First off was Jude Chamberlain in the U14 boys. Riding up to the top 3 on the first 4 laps of the upper circuit, which had similarities to where he won in London last week, all was looking good... but things got serious when the full course was included for the final 7 laps with the climb and the field fragmented. A great ride though, finishing 13th (70+ starters).
In the U16 girls Amelie Wayte and Lotta Mansfield started at the front of the field of 55 which kept together initially but split at 1/3 distance. Amo led a chase of the podium break of 3 and Lotta led the chase in the second group. Both finished with their best results at this level, Amo 6th and Lotta 22nd.
In the U16 boys Jack Brough, Josh Giddings and Kyle Hoskin took on the climb but not really the day for them. Jack could have done with an easier gear but finished 32nd, Josh 42nd and Kyle 98th out of a field of well over 100.
Finally in the Junior Women, Neve Hattee joined the most elite field to finish 16th, behind the awesome Hattie Harnden who has been impressing on the World stage this year.
Our under 14s, already getting used to putting something back into the sport, handing out medals and haribo to all the finishers of the under 8 race at Mallory last night. An hour later they placed 4 riders in the top 7 in the toughest Mallory race of the year. Well done guys!
